This story is about magical creatures called Hemples, which are born from special green eggs. The Hemples have the power to grant wishes, but only if they’re treated with love and care. A kind man named Big Pops and the town vet, Doc Brian, discover the eggs and keep them a secret to protect them from being used for selfish reasons. Big Pops’ granddaughter, a young girl named Abigail, becomes very attached to the Hemples, and as they grow, they seem to stay close to her. Despite efforts to send them away, the Hemples always return, bound by Abigail’s love.
I have known my good friend Steve for a many years and realized very early on that he had a wild and wonderful imagination. It is no surprise to me that he has created this fantastical story about the Hemple birds for his granddaughter. The great thing by publishing his story is that now all children can read and experience the Hemplemagic of Data, Nebraska. As a friend you will think my review is biased, but I assure you it is not. This is a well written story that is certain to entertain your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends of all ages. This book is a “Must-Have” with a home on all children’s bookshelves.
